Seventh-day Sabbath
8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
10 But the seventh day [is] the sabbath of the LORD thy God: [in it] thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that [is] within thy gates:
11 For [in] six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them [is], and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
(Exodus 20: 8-11)
16 Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, [for] a perpetual
covenant. (Exodus 31:16)
31 And [if] the people of the land bring ware or any victuals on the sabbath day to sell, [that] we would not buy it of them on the sabbath, or on the holy day: and [that] we would leave the seventh year, and the exaction of every debt.
(Nehemiah 10:31)
19 And it came to pass, that when the gates of Jerusalem began to be dark before the sabbath, I commanded that the gates should be shut, and charged that they should not be opened till after the sabbath: and [some] of my servants set I at the gates, [that] there should no burden be brought in on the sabbath day.
(Nehemiah 13:19)

also restored the full text of the Ten
Commandments from the brass plates of Laban taken by Nephi from Jerusalem. The
missing commandment that Strang translated was Thou shalt love thy neighbour as
thyself. See The Decalogue in the Book of the Law of the
Lord.

 | James J. Strang restored certain
ordinances that
existed prior to the Law of Moses, in fulfillment of a prophecy of Joseph Smith Jr., who
said: These sacrifices, as well as every ordinance belonging to the Priesthood,
will, when the Temple of the Lord shall be built, and the sons of Levi be purified, be
fully restored and attended to in all their powers, ramifications, and blessings.
This ever did and ever will exist when the powers of the Melchizedek Priesthood are
sufficiently manifest; else how can the restitution of all things spoken of by the Holy
Prophets be brought to pass? It is not to be understood that the law of Moses will be
established again with all its rites and variety of ceremonies; this has never been spoken
of by the prophets; but those things which existed prior to Moses day, namely,
sacrifice, will be continued. (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, page
173). See article on Latter Day Saints and Animal Sacrifice.
