Historic Map of the Midwest
Voree is located immediately west of Burlington, Wisconsin, where Hwy. 11 crosses Mormon Road and the White River on the Racine-Walworth County line.
From 1844 to 1850 thousands of Mormons gathered there with James Strang, making it one of their stakes of Zion.

Between 1830 and 1856, Mormons had gathering places called “stakes of Zion”, which were holy places where they were commanded to live.  All of them were located in the Midwest.
